Welcome back to another school year at Deweyville ISD - the place to be!!
We at DISD are committed to providing an environment that is safe, supportive and inspirational!
DISD is experiencing many positive changes and so many improvements have been completed
specially in the area of safety and security. We will continue to use any and all means necessary
to protect the safety of all our students, faculty and staff.
We believe that the team approach of teachers and families supporting students is the key to success.
At elementary, we are excited about implementing a vertically aligned math curriculum beginning at
kindergarten and continuing to Algebra. Not only does it provide real-world connections, it also
provides students with tools to understand the math processes. Elementary is also utilizing online
programs to strengthen skills for those who need remediation and for enriching the curriculum for
those who need to be challenged. These programs engage students, build on prior knowledge and
target each student’s area of need in reading and math.
Dual credit enrollment has tripled this year at our Junior/High school campus. Students are able
to take classes that not only earn them a credit for high school but also credits at the college level
through our Early College High School status. These classes are at no cost to any student identified
as economically disadvantaged. Additionally, students enrolled in Principles of Construction and
HVAC for four years can graduate from Deweyville and LSCO simultaneously with an HVAC
certification while being trained on our brand new state of the art JET grant equipment. There is
no student cost for this program as well.
We will continue our tutorial programs again this year including snacks and transportation through
our ESSER grant. All students are welcome to attend.
Thank you for your active engagement in your child’s education. We are very excited about all the
upcoming fall activities that include the community and we appreciate your participation.
Deweyville ISD may be small but we are one of the mightiest district’s in our area and we are
certainly the place to be. While I am so proud of all the accomplishments and positive aspects of
our district, the board and I are in no way satisfied. We are committed to continue to strive for
better ratings and facilities while maintaining our small town feel that makes Deweyville such a
special place!
It is truly a privilege and honor to lead as the Superintendent at Deweyville ISD.
Wishing everyone a great year at DISD – THE place to be!
