Band wins award

March 07, 2019

The Deweyville Pirate Band competed in the Region 10 UIL Concert & Sight Reading Contest on Wednesday, March 6 at Silsbee High School.  The band received an excellent rating on their stage performance with one judge ranking away from the top award.  The band was awarded a superior rating plaque for the sight reading performance.  With the sight reading contest portion, the band has only 7 minutes to study the music and then perform for 3 judges.  We are very proud of our band and their continued success year after year.

Band Advances to Area for 3rd Time

October 23, 2018

The Pirate Band received excellent ratings at the UIL Region Marching contest on Saturday, October 20 at Port Neches Groves High School.  The ratings from the three judges were high enough to advance the band to the next level of competition.  Deweyville will compete against other 14 other 2A schools from Northeast and Southeast Texas. The Area Marching Contest will be held on Saturday, October 27 at Pine Tree ISD stadium in Longview.  Deweyville will perform at 1:15pm for a chance to earn a spot in the UIL State Marching Band Contest in November.

The 35-member band has been battling the weather all year long and we are extremely happy for the juniors and seniors to have this 3rd and final opportunity to advance to Area.  For the 8th, 9th and 10th grade members this will be their second advancement and they will not have another chance until 2020.  Experiencing this elite band competition for the very first time will be the 12 seventh graders in the band.

GOOD LUCK BAND!

JH Volleyball Season Ends

October 23, 2018

The Junior High Lady Pirate Volleyball season came to an end on Monday, 10/22.

The 7th grade Lady Pirates would take the court first in a battle against rival Evadale.  They would drop the first set in a nail biter (23-25).  Although they dropped the first set, they came back strong and took the second set aggressively with a (25-15) victory.  This would force the match to a 3rd and deciding set.  The 7th grade Lady Pirates dug in and finished the match out with a decisive (15-8) score.  With the win, the 7th grade Lady Pirates are District Champions with a perfect 8-0 record in district!!!  Congratulations on the outstanding year!!  All of your hard work and perseverance paid off.  They finished the year with an overall record of 11-4 and 8-0 in district.  If you see the following 7th grade athletes, please congratulate them on their outstanding season!!  The 7th grade Lady Pirates include:  Kaylee Crooks, Autumn Fitts, Giselle Gonzalez, Rylee Gonzales, Ava Henson, Mykaela Kemp, Brooklyn Leckelt, Hope Roderick, Grace Suggett, Jillian Thompson, Emily Totino, Riley Wright, Zamber Hall.
