Deweyville vs. Colmesneil.
We won 36-0 for the first win of the year. Lance Wilhelm and Gavin Buxton lead the way rushing the football for the Pirates. Lance had 2 TD's and Gavin had one. Our defense was very stingy Friday night only giving up 68 yards led by Chase Williams. Our special teams blocked a punt and scooped and scored. Overall the Pirates played very well together and showed a lot of class. Next we will be at home vs. Kountze with kickoff being at 7:00.

We are so proud to throw alittle spotlight on a few of our amazing Deweyville faculty and students: Sheree Suire-Junior High Mathmatics, Traci Anderson-Band Director, Brianna Shipp, and Skylar Jordan. Congratulations for being named Orange Chamber of Commerce's Student/Teacher of the month!
Deweyville is proud to present two state qualifiers for our 2018 Powerlifting team.
Freshman Shelby Crumpler received 2nd place in all of her meets, lifting an impressive 255 squat, 155 bench, and 260 in dead lift giving her a 640 lb total. Shelby worked hard during practices 3 days week, as well as put in extra time during open gym opportunities. She credits her teammates, Lacy Roderick and Kelsey Hyatt, for pushing her to succeed.
Remarkably, this is Junior Kelsey Hyatt’s first year to powerlift, starting her career off with a bang she is Deweyville’s second state qualifier. She admits she started off benching 55 lbs. Kelsey says she started working everyday training and pushing herself reaching 70 lbs during qualifiers. Her first meet she received 3rd place, but climbed the ranks to first for every meet after. She has found that she loves powerlifting, partly because of the new friends she has met and grown close to.
Both girls attribute their successes to the team support they both give and receive, proving the old adage to be true; teamwork truly does make the dream work!
The Deweyville Pirates hosted the Evadale Rebels last night to start the 2nd round of district play. The final score ended up being 106-57. The boys worked extremely hard and played a great basketball game. I am proud to be their coach.
